Here's what happened...
It started off slowly.
I used it once a day for 20 minutes and it was hard to tell if anything was happening...
But about 3 days in I started noticing that the volume on my pain was slightly turned down.
Then a week later during a flare I noticed it wasn't as intense.
I checked in with my friend and she said she was noticing a difference too.
Then 2 weeks in I realized that my Advil was actually working a lot better than normal. It just kicked in, and I was able to start doing things around the house.
Slowly but surely things started to change.
The best way I can describe it is the flares just stopped wiping me out and stopped being as intense.
And everything I was doing to reduce inflammation just started to click into place.
Soon enough I was going out more often and enjoying nights out with my friends.
I'll never forget the moment I was at a family dinner and my niece said to my sister, "Mom, Aunt Hannah doesn't look tired today."
That one stayed with me. I had to look away for a second.
Because I hadn't realized how long I'd been wearing it on my face.
And after that, the little things just kept coming.
Then I started leaving the house daily and realizing that I didn't pack my TENS or take any pills.
I just forgot about them and felt okay about it.
There was the weekend away I said yes to without once opening my calendar to check if it landed on a bad week.
There were the nights I slept all the way through, instead of waking at 2am and creeping downstairs to sit with a heating pad in the dark.
And there was the morning I pulled on a pair of jeans, proper ones with a waistband, and remembered I hadn't done that in years.
I even stopped rehearsing what I'd say when I called in sick. Because I wasn't making that call anymore.
And my friend?
She felt it too.
We'd gone from texting each other at 2am, trading what hurt and what didn't, to sending each other photos from places we never thought we'd have the energy to be.
She told me the other week she's started looking into going back to medicine. The thing the pain took from her, she's reaching for it again.
This has been such a game changer for us. It's not the end all and be all, and like I've said I still have bad days, but it's the thing that put control back into my hands.
And it's really simple — it's because I have more cellular energy, it's like supplementing cellular energy.
